Spring/summer 2011 Fashion Forecasts!

The first look consists of a sequined midriff top which can be won as is or with a secondary top underneath.In this picture the stylist (yours truly) teamed it up with a nude top tacked under the pants.
Broques are still cute and here they are won with red lace pants to give the a sort of "page boy" look.
Accessories won include the red vintage hat and chunky necklace as well as a floppy bag and watch.



Boy meets girl.This look is almost androgynous and punk at the same time.There are various other ways of embracing the punk look..you can wear studs,safety pins and chains on anything as well as pick up on the neon trends..as seen on the Balmain runways.




The sheer trend.
The skirt here is partially sheer.This look is simple yet classy at the same time.Pair this dress with edgy boots and a crucifix for the ultimate edge.My model is also wearing round vintage-y sunglasses which are really hot right now.



Ripped Clothing
Get a break from the ordinary LBD and try something with more edge and pizazz! The dress is accessorized with a belt,black open toe lace up booties and a pooch (fashion's newest accessory)

Give the skinny pants a break!
Get yourself some flared pants in any fabric.I chose Cotton because nothing quite compares to the comfort of fine yarn on a hot and  humid climate.The model is wearing a see through lace top and has accessorised with a chunky jewelry(necklace + bangles).




Feel free to loose the tights,blazers and socks.Wear what makes you comfortable and beautiful..you are what you wear after all aren't you?

Of warriors and happy returns..

We are quickly headed towards the end of the year and I have no gift Ideas to get for my Mum.I mean am so clueless!last year I bought her a pair of shoes that were AWESOME!..according to me of course.she only wore them once then piled them up with the rest of the dust-gathering,spider-infested lot..am not jaded about that and still need to get her something..she's way to picky!!

I just loved this entire collection.I think the cuffs and huge exaggerated collars were quite something! and plus they have picked up from where their previous collection left..I sourced this images from the NYMAG website.

Then lo and behold I discovered skin.graft....

They have dressed Lady GaGa among others in the past but put that behind and you are still in awe of their amazing work...They design garments whose colour palette is on the darker end of the spectrum but they NEVER fail to impress..I love their work so much!!!

hair-or stories...

I think I now realise how hair salon hair dressers can conspire to kill someone and so I name this script THE CURIOUS CASE OF KILLER SALONISTS.

PLOT
The scene starts off in the 2nd floor of a highrise building where the hair parlor is located .The lead actress(yours truly) is having her nappy hair relaxed....so the hair dresser first applies the chemicals on my hair then sits around waiting for it to properly develop .Her assistant who has been sitting in the corner earphones in place filing her nails and chewing gum like some retard finally walks out for "lunch" (its 11 am ..who has lunch at 11 a.m? on a freakn saturday?)
anywho..my hair gets processed (i know it sounds like some document on a computer or something) and my head feels as though it's on fire so I call for her attention and the convo..

Her: Is it that bad?
Me: Yeah.Feels like am burning!
Her: (laughs) am sure it doesn't hurt a bit
Me:It really feels like my head's on fire (freak! I would not complain if I felt just fine)
Her:(laughs again and walks out to go and chat with the accountant next door!)

Seriously???!!

I-spy .......

I have for the longest time wanted to write a post in the language of blah-nglish.and what exactly is blah-nglish you ask?

thats blah-nglish its very easy to read write and write and you dont need to use your head so much.The beauty of it is that once you start learning it you can skip directly from beginner level to connoisseur in an instant just like instant coffee..Not!

so aside from that..I have found couple of stunning eye pieces in the last couple of days that i think will take your breathe and words away...

i think this pieces are just as genius....then there is this Chanel piece....with lace!it's about time someone READ self started hunting down for this pieces...*sigh*

MASKS

So lately i have been having a serious fascination for masks.to be more particular i am in LOOOOVE,in Loove am in freaking love with venetian masks.Masquereade(why did they make it so hard to spell this word?Jeez like we need a spelling bee challenge!damn this english language)...anywho some masQ masks seem a little bit out of my personal taste but thank God for lace!!!

Let me just show you what am talking about...PS. i don't own the pics

then there are those featured in the Valentino Couture show for fall09 that i completely adored.Thank God front row seats at these shows are reserved for the usually well mannered fashion heavyweights..if i sat front row at this particular show I would have personally yanked one of the models off the  runway and stripped her of this masks.Only problem is am not quite good with exit strategies....

aside from lace,i have found some pretty good one made out of "faux" metal(READ plastic) as i was web crawling..

then there were these i saw on lady gaga.complete with pearls..I DIED!

now i want a mask!!

You are in the middle of the city (not some nondescript village(READ remote area) in the middle of nowhere where google earth or GPS can't even trace) , the most recurrent item of clothing you are gonna see is pants..Black pants ,blue pants,red jeans,white capris...you get my drift right?

so anyways,a few designers out there have decided to break the glass and do things a little differently ,case in point this Sylvia Owori piece modelled by supermodel Ajuma Nasenyana during the Arise Africa Fashion Week..res ipsa loquitur

Don't you just love those interesting galactic like ruffles on the pants?..I tell you what,you wear those for an hour and if the paps don't swoon over you then ..then i don't know what the heck they are there for!

Will definately post more on interesting trouser designs..keep your eyes open.

hairy affairs

so of late i have been overly fascinated by *drumroll* ...HAIR!For the sake of clarity,am refering to the hair that grows on your head..the one thats at least 5" long ..get my drift?

so back to the hair story ..you can braid it: make a sort of couture hat.hehe

you can wear it:like this Charlie le mindu.Take note of the lip hair thing on her head and the skirt...

there is only one problem ...what happens when it suddenly starts raining cats and dogs(pun intended)?well ,for starters you are gonna smell real bad,look like a wet puppy but on the bright side..this piece is exquisite.

you can also wear it with weird accessories .case in point these glasses..

or where it like a bolero...

however you want to wear your hair ...rock it out.xx

haider ackerman fall 2010

Haider ackerman has demonstrated an amazing workmanship when it comes to leather.Just saw his fall 2010 collection and i looovee his work!

the mix of leather and lace both of which are still the rage right now is genius! plus i love all the cuts and the twists going on in leather..

I have to admit I would wear this number as an overlay...unless I am being paid a hefty amount of money to cater for the cost of treatment of the wounds and bruises I would acquire while walking down the street....damn this morality freaks!lol.

Fashion finds!

I just discovered Iris van Herpen!Eureka!

She's Dutch and is one of the most talented avant garde fashion designer I have truly fallen in love with.She has worked with,get this,Alexander Mcqueen and Victor and Rolf!I just saw her "mummification" collection and boy wasn't i wowed!Her craftmanship or should I say her craftwomanship on leather almost rivals Jean Claude Jitrois!

Her other collection like synthesia are equally breathtaking but this(mummufication) completely takes my breathe away!

i have no idea where i've been all along..i mean why haven't i ever heard of gareth pugh before?lawd!if i had died before today i think i would have totally short lived my goals...to see the bestest of avant garde fashion ever(after mcqueen of course!).i love this guy's work!where has he been? rather where have i been?

the left one has those victorian ruffs that have made go gaga for the last couple days...i would love to know how to make them! i've been googling around and everything i find is lengthy and complicated but i guess i'll have to learn all  the same.

fanning out the heat..

i've been busy running around doing alot and i've been so tired of late.i have come to the point where i wish i could'nt walk but instead the earth would move towards me..that would save on a lot of energy!
anyway i started making some polka dot ruffled neckline top last week and it taking forever to complete it..i hope i finish it..wish me luck:)
i've just seen some really crazy design pieces that i just love so much...u gotta see 'em

i would really love to know how they make those victorian style fan-like collars!they look so adorable i want them.

this is another piece i so admire..that fan thingy at the neckline is gorgeous..up close it looks like that..now isn't that just adorable!

the telephone video gaga vs beyonce

 first of all let me start by saying that i love gaga and beyonce so evertyhing i say is out of love...
that video sucks!its like an infomercial only with more hype music in the background and two well known musicians endorsing their products ...that's out my chest.now for the good part..

hair:    my favourite hairstyle was the one gaga wore that was shaped like a telephone complete with the telephone cord!that was neat.

wardrobe:gaga's leopard print jumpsuit was HOTT!i would wear that right of the shoot.The black studded jacket she wears at the beginning is also hot.

emo vs scene hair

up until yesterday i had no idea there is such a thing as scene hair..i thought all kind of punk looks can be bundled under the emo title..according to my dictionary:

emo:(noun)hair with a punkish edge usually short and chopped
scene:(noun)as above only more colourful.

am actually rockin a scene hairstyle right now and am luvn...some pics(not me!)
